I found this on another site but thought it should be shared Errant councils across the country, given more power by central government via the 2011 Localism Act, yet no means of redress for parishioners when those same empowered councils abuse that power. And to add insult to injury, the same councils are supposed to create a complaints committee from out of themselves, selected by themselves, to investigate themselves and make judgement on themselves, and we are supposed to trust the impartiality of such a complaints committee. Do any of you see the councils being mentioned on these Facebook sites would be impartial and deal with any complaints fairly? These councils fail to comply with government and financial regulations, or the Nolan Principals, what hope is there for an impartial complaints committee? The present situation is a complete farce and central government needs to make changes to help redress this one sided situation and give parishioners an official body they can go to with their complaints which has some teeth. If such a body existed, would the likes of Edwinstowe, Exelby, Leeming and Newton, and Keighley council be operating as they are now?
