I gathered these thoughts and facts(maybe) on the ISIS threat: There are many moderate Muslims; however, until the leading Islamic scholars provide peaceful theology that clearly contradicts the violent views of the Islamic State, the existence of moderate “Islam” must be questioned. Cruelty is an everyday occurrence in Islamic civilization and life is not necessarily sacred. Countries bordering the conflict with power and influence are mostly trying to prevent it from spreading. Turkey has a heavily fortified border and is dealing with MILLIONS of Syrian refugees. The Saudis are building a border wall and sending $billions to competing factions in the fighting. Iran is looking to expand its influence with troops in the region. These 3 countries are all against the spread of ISIS. US bombing in the region is like throwing a firecracker into a hornets nest. It may weaken the nest but spreads angry bees everywhere. Maybe the bombing will force moderate Muslims to speak up but the idea that we can play any part in nation building in the region is ridiculous.
