I get a real kick out of Clemson fans that refer to Carolina fans as coots. For over 30 years my nickname has been Coot. All the people that I worked with at Duke Power Lee Steam Station called me Coot. I would rather be called Coot than Scott. My grandfather was called Coot his whole life, my father has also been called Coot. I can see where someone would get Coot from Cooley. Just so you all will know, when you call me a Coot, you are calling me by my name, and I actually prefer it....just carrying on an old family tradition.
