I get many questions about cutting weight for a contest. More in the context how to dump that last few pounds as quickly as possible in order to make weight. What is everyones take on this practice? Other than the fact that its ritualistic dogma, Im curious to know peoples input. Is it something everyone should be doing because they can? Or should it really be left to the guys who have been around a while and can actually benefit from going down a class. Like many other advanced tactics, do you think this is something that really causes more harm than good for the typical athlete if outside of a specific boundary? Does the typical athlete really think they can retain their performance after losing 5-10% of their body weight in a day or two? Is it really worth it for some weekend warrior bash? Further, do you think the post weigh in bingefest justifies, or makes up for, the previous day or two?
