I get that it hasnt even been Thanksgiving yet but this still warrants sharing. If you didnt know this year marks the anniversary of when one of the largest and cruelest wars of all time that would rewrite everything we knew about warfare and dictate the course of the next century in more ways than anyone thought possible. Nightmarish trenches carved out all of Europe and combated each other with artillery, poison gas, machine guns, and waves of futile assaults. Knowing all that is what makes this a powerful commercial. 100 years ago this Christmas the soldiers of the Central and Allied powers, against orders, actually met each other topside and celebrated that Christmas together like the last 5 months or the next day of shelling didnt and wouldnt matter. Bands played, wine was shared, German Barbers cut English soldiers hair and English soldiers cooked for the Germans. Brush it off as some cheesy holiday sentiment if you will, but its an amazing message for the rest of the year if taken with the right context. Well done Sainsbury.
