I got to spend some girl time with my daughter at the mall today. This is what I took away. *My taste in clothes is NOT her taste. But we wear the same size. *We have the same shoe size, and she has really good taste in shoes. (Go ME!!!!) *I finally convinced her to start wearing a purse. To which she pointed out...Mom you carry around way too much stuff that you do not need...(True Story). *She wants to start working at 14 to start paying for her own cell phone bill. (GO ME!!!) *She is embarrassed to be seen walking with me to school because she will be in Middle School. (Not a happy Me, and I guess I will not be allowed to take first day of school picture). I realize that our children are ours for a short time. It fills me with pride when she speaks about volunteering and working. I trust her judgment, but I am afraid of letting go. She has grown so much this Summer. My caterpillar has become a beautiful butterfly in the last 10 weeks. These are truly mixed emotions. I want her to grow up to be independent and assertive, but when I look at her I see my beautiful bouncy 2 year old whose hand I cant let go! Parents, do you feel the same mixed emotions?
