I got up from the dinner table last night and a pain went through - TopicsExpress

I got up from the dinner table last night and a pain went through my chest. I thought it would go away in a minute but it persisted. So, I had Emily (our household nursing student) check my blood pressure: 153/97! I have never seen my blood pressure anywhere near that high. The next reading was 163/103. Chest pain + high blood pressure = ER. So, I spent the whole evening in the ER. Everything came out ok. EKG, chest X-ray, blood work, enzymes - all normal. My chest still hurts like heck but Im leaning toward a pinched nerve as my shoulder blade had joined in on the fun. My blood pressure seems to have been a combination of a couple of stressful days, exhaustion from having gotten almost no sleep during a night of multiple events and stresses, tripling my caffeine intake recently, and getting to a weight that my body hates. I guess Im sharing this (besides that I share everything!) to communicate a couple of points: 1. I have a rule that if any health issue bothers you consistently or causes you to worry most or all of the time, get it checked out. 2. By all means, if someone ELSE or multiple someone elses tell you that you should go to the ER, GO! I cant tell you how much time Ive spent trying to talk people into getting medical care they probably need. That said, I think my body is telling me that its time to make a few changes. Im glad it knows how to get my attention.
