I guess Im in a mood this morning. I just posted this in response to a comment about Justin Trudeaus intelligence on an Andrew Coyne Facebook post. I really have too much to do today to spend my time troll baiting... Let me ask you a question. Did you vote for the Liberals when Michael Ignatieff and Stéphane Dion were leader? Because they are, arguably, two of the smartest people in Canada - and most certainly have higher IQs than the other party leaders they were running against. Further, on what do you base your comment that Justin Trudeau is dangerously dim? His speeches are well crafted and well delivered. The positions he has taken - on issues like pipelines, drug policy reform, electoral reform, the Senate, etc. - are well thought out and demonstrate critical thinking skills, even if you disagree with them. His vocabulary seems well developed, and in scrums he seems able to be able to comprehend and respond to reporters complicated questions (maybe with a few more ums than Id like but that isnt an indication of lack of intelligence, just a lack of practice). Is it that you are expecting Justin to be controlled and well scripted - never speaking his mind? Do you think he should shun the media and the public, only appearing in front of crowds that are well vetted and controlled? Do you think his handlers should vet every single thing he ever says to make sure that it is as bland and unoffensive as possible? I dont know about you, but Canada already has a Prime Minister like that in Stephen Harper, and I dont much like the Canada he is creating. I want a Prime Minister and is willing to risk the occasional gaff in order to connect honestly and sincerely with Canadians. I want a Prime Minister who shares my values, and is willing to do what is right over what is convenient. I want a Prime Minister who not only believes that Canada is one of the greatest countries in the world, but believes that well only stay that way by always striving, always working. Im ready for that kind of leadership in this country.
