I had 27 Annas and 38 Elsas last night, the movie Frozen must have been a big hit with the little girls!! I was also corrected on the pronunciation of the name Anna, its pronounced like ANA, with the long A in the beginning. A 4 year old corrected me on this, in NO uncertain terms! How dare I say her name wrong!!! It was a magical night, brings back sooo many good memories of my youth growing up on Melbourne Street! The night just sparked with life, fun and excitement! The best part of the night was the 20-something kids who stopped by to say hi to us with their own children, we watched these young people grow up in the neighborhood and now they are parents themselves. We got hugs from them, sort of puts a lump in your throat to see them appreciative of the kindness we showed them when they were little. But that is how it should be, how it was for the most part, when we were young such a long time ago. It was done for us, many kindnesses shown, and we didnt even realize it until we were grown up. So I pass it on. I am proud of these kids and the way they have all grown, and if I had a small part in them turning out to be fine young people then I consider my time spent talking and goofing around with them when they were little to be time well spent. One person can make a difference, and if we all try we can make others lives just a bit better by showing kindness to one another. At least thats what my Momma told me so many years ago in the Vestal I grew up in, Vintage Vestal they call it today....
