I had a guy come in and estimate the cost of removing all the drywall, the mold, and applying the spray and lacquer needed to kill it; in the basement of Michelle and Joshs house in Junction. His estimate, 9,795.00. Before I gave him the go ahead, I called my brother in law and asked him if that was a fair price. His son runs a home rental business in the Quad Cities and has run into this problem with rentals all the time. He said it was too much, and bless his heart, came down today, along with his brother, his Dad, Josh, Michelle, Donnie Orr, Joshs Dad and brother,myself and my other son in law, Sean. We tore out all the dry wall and removed it in a little over 3 hours. Had lunch while my nephew sprayed the stuff on to kill it. After it dried we put the lacquer on. Same procedure that the guy said had to be done. Entire job including lunch took about 5 hours. Cost, two shovels, construction bags, dinner, a tarp, bleach, rental of a dumpster, and a bunch of nice people who gave of their time today That nearly 10,000 estimate, will probably end up costing well under 500 dollars total. Seems that estimate was a bit high! Nice to have a good family! Thanks everyone! !
