I had a pleasant discussion with folks who essentially denied this bad boy had bought the parties, and obamas trotting out all this cool progressive designed to fail legislation, was equally about it being a time it could only fail, as much as designed to set the stage for the next election cycle and minimize a lame duck sessions sting. The dems had a narrow window, when combined with a bully pulpit (was not Reagan obamas favorite?!?), there was a small chance with bruhaha and spine, some great legislation, like the college and progressive taxation idea. Lovely ....but seriously, why now???? Anyway, still waiting for a convincing argument that corporate/Neo-lib/globalisits who are (almost) exscuslively the dems leadership in congress and WH are more closely aligned on any vote about money or foreign policy, wall st and free trade, with the evil neo:cons/republicans than with their own liberal /progressive base. Over and over. Monsanto, big oil, wall st., NSA.CIA criminality... the neos: red and blue always stand and vote together. While keeping social issues to keep your emotions engaged in god, guns and other left/right divides that we now know is brain chemistry for survival a d community types. Anyway, show me this hypothesis is wrong with votes not words from speeches. Or legislation that looks progressive, but is timed oh, so conservatively - David Ryan
