I had a relaxed evening and listened to some of my vinyls on 2 Channel Stereo. Always enjoyable. I listended to around 4 Vinyls, one of which really caught my fancy. Taqdeer (1967) by Laxmikant Pyarelal is one magical album. The songs really just takes me far off from earth. I listened to the vinyl back-to-back 5 times. Its one of those albums that hsa so many memories attached to it. One was, my second grade music teacher taught us the song Pappa Jaldi Aa Jaana completely, We still remember her for that. The album is very melodious. Majority of the songs are sung by Mohammed Rafi & Lata Mangeshkar, but with such beautiful grace, i dont know which adjectives to use to describe the feeling i get when i listen to their voices. Track Listing: 1. Jab Jab Bahaar Aaye - Part 1 2. Pappa Jaldi Aa Jaana 3. Mujhe Bhool Jaana 4. Jab Jab Bahaar Aaye - Part 2 5. Likhta Hai Taqdeer 6. Aayee Yeh Bahaar Ko 7. Shaadi Karwalo 8. Jab Jab Bahaar Aaye - Part 3 The height of melody for me would be in tracks 5 and 6. In track 5 Rafi croons Likhta Hai Woh Taqdeer in such beauty and harmony that ive never ever heard another song like this one. The tune is seeped in melody and Rafis beautiful voice carries this songs. Track 6 Aayee Yeh Bahaar Ko has Lata Mangeshkar, also in one of the most melodious tunes ive ever heard. Hear her singing in the first and second stanza. It just puts me somewhere else. Her Alaaps midway are dribbled in honey. Absolutely perfect. Track 8 has Mahendra Kapoor and Usha Mangeshkar, And wow, he really added to this version, giving it a distinct sound from the first and second versions which had Mohammed Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar respectively. Lyrics by Anand bakshi are worth a mention. They carry these songs even higher. Laxmikant Pyarelal were master composers. I honestly enjoy the way they orchestrated their music. Their hard work left a treasure of music for us fans.
