I had a scary moment today. I was biking up Commerce toward the Howard intersection where you can get on the trail. I really hate that intersection, and I should probably have avoided it. The light was green, and there was a big Universal Studios lighting truck hauling a trailer wanting to turn right. He was going really slowly, so I couldnt tell if he was giving me the right of way to cross in the cross-walk on the green light. Turned out he wasnt. I just got clipless pedals, and I totally keeled right over, very nearly into the path of the rear wheels of the trailer. Guy kept on going, while I was stuck in my shoes praying he didnt run over my head. Another such truck was right behind him. He just went right ahead too, with me still on my side in the bike lane. I finally got up, and of course nobody bothered themselves about whether I was okay. Im banged up, but not badly. Its definitely only because of not being used to the pedals that I fell, but I sure wish those trucks had been paying more attention, too.
