I had an excellent hike (SOBO) over Sinking Creek Mountain over the weekend! The slanting rock slabs up on the ridge top made for some slow going for a while, but it was all good. Stayed at Sarver Hollow Shelter. We had it all to ourselves. Thanks to all who gave me intel about this stretch - your information was accurate and really helped me to plan. The spring and shelter at Sarver are in good shape and the hike down to Sarver is indeed steep, kind of like the secret stair to Mordor. It definitely wakes you up and gets you into hiking mode climbing out of that hole in the morning! The Keffer Oak was impressive as was dodging all the cow pies to get to it. I left a hello to Karen Hikermom Dillard in the shelter register after sweeping the shelter out and, like I always do, trying to leave it a little better than how I found it.
