I had an idea once. Take one of these Epiphones and refit it for a metal guitar. One thing I suspect you could do is replace the tuning nobs on the headstocks with a set meant for the $3,000 Gibson version (this one is $995). Take a look the pickups perhaps too. Down the road it might be interesting to have a couple bays routed in the back and switch it to solid state pickups. The goal would totally be for a rhythm instrument. Theres other doubles I dig the SG style. The more expensive version that Jimmy Page used has solid brass hardware. That has resonance if placed on the headstock.
