I had an interesting experience at a retail store today. My boyfriend and I are going to his friends wedding and I needed to try on some dresses. I have erbs in my right shoulder but I was told it is also in my left a little bit? I havent been in PT since I was little because they told me I was getting enough exercise in gym class and cheerleading. Im 23 now. But anyways I needed my significant other to zip up the back of my dress. I asked the fitting room attendant If he could come in with me and he said yes. About 5 minutes later, another employee walked back and said whoever the male is in here needs to go. Treating us like we were stealing or something. I just hate having to explain or even ask for another woman in the fitting room for help especially when its something so simple. I was waiting in line waiting to buy the dress but I broke down and my boyfriend told me to wait in the car. He complained to the manager and said how embarrassed I was. Does anyone feel like this ever or am I just crazy? I have dealt with this my whole life but sometimes it gets to me that Im not able to do things like everyone else. Something even as simple as zipping up a dress. I dont like feeling sorry for myself either. Ive tried to overcome my disability and accept challenges. Im now in the pursuit of achieving my dream to be a motorcycle mechanic. Im about half way thru my core curriculum and getting As! Im just looking for different stories and advice, not sympathy. Thank you!
