I am a huge dog lover and I know a lot people such a Bobby Oliver that does wonderful work for dogs needing adopting. My ideal is have IRS let us use our dogs for tax deductons on their Income tax for a deduction. Just ballpark figure allow half of what a human dependant exception. Allow for Vet Bills. And meds such as Hearguard and Frontline. The reqirements would be a receipt has to be enclosed in tax return in order to get the deduction. You get more deductions if you adopt a dog from a shelter.after all they are family to right. According to my calculatons, it will keep dogs for being put to sleep daily, it would create more jobs in the Vet Business all dogs will have to be current on their shots, and have give them hearworm preventaive.They would be requred to have Flea and Tick Preventative such as frontline ang Heatgurd. The government would not be losing money because more jobs would be created. More Vets, more truck drivers to tansport their medications, and most important it would stop the Pounds from killing these innocent dogs.it is a Passing Thought.
