I had long planned to give respect to a few synth-makers in the notes of my album. One of these, best known as H.G. Fortune, passed last month after a brief illness. His synths have played a large part in my music for years now and can be found on a few songs on Hijacking Your Fiction (indeed, the beatiful pads in The Temptation of Saint Anthony comprises of two instances of STS-21). They have also proven to be integral for inspiration on a forthcoming side project. I had promised a donation to him on the KVR forums, a promise that was never fulfilled, so it seems the least I can do to pay respects here. I lament the day that his plugins will no longer be functional on my computer due to a format that is quickly growing obsolete. I feel this post is a bit rushed and not as poetic as Id hoped. My excuse is only that Ive been home sick for two days. Perhaps the poetry is best heard through Guenters synths anyway. I once considered them a secret weapon in my music, but what is the point of musical secrets? His website is still alive, though the shop is closed (hgf-synthesizer/). Nonetheless, much of his work can still be found here: https://archive.org/details/HGFortuneNFG. I leave with his last forum posts on KVR: Important Notice - August, 08. 2014 - Please read: Due to some unforseeable circumstances Ive to go to a different place for about 10 to 14 days. The drawback is it is a fairly remote place and Ill have only scarce access to internet. As I dont have a smartphone I wont be able to read and answer to emails thus I took the shop page (on hgf-synthesizer) offline as a reply to purchase mails within 24 hours will not be possible. August, 22. 2014: Ill extend my stay for about another fortnight.
