I had mentioned before that I had gotten a scholarship to be a part of a book study following Daring Greatly by Brené Brown which investigates the concept and importance of vulnerability. I have had some pretty intense spiritual awakenings lately and had caught myself thinking, maybe I am just supposed to keep learning about God, maybe I dont even need this class. I decided to see what the readings were so I could check them out and get caught up and wouldnt you know WHAM! this book is really hitting me hard. It reminded me WHY I was accepted into this class in the first place and also WHY that nasty V-word VULNERABILITY is such a vital topic for me at this point in my life. I learned recently that I have this brain disorder, its too long of a name to list but essentially its where I think too much. Overthinking strikes again! Hahaha, I crack myself up. Its good to know Im not in control, but I definitely have a habit of trying to take it back from time to time. Anyway I thought Id share that little tidbit for your enjoyment :) here is the quote that gave the book its name, it is from a speech by Theodore Roosevelt entitled, Citizenship in a Republic, It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails by daring greatly.
