I had my first air search and rescue task as an observer today. We were tracking down a signal from an emergency location transmitter that was turned on in Vancouver. Theres speculation it may be part of the equipment stolen from north Van search and rescue recently. The crooks may have turned it on not realizing we and the police on the ground are closing in on the signal. What a way that would be to catch a crook. We closed to an area close to first and commercial. I will update when I hear the outcome. Not real SAR but a beautiful day for a flight.
