I had the most eye-opening experience at the gym today. I was in the locker room getting ready to leave when I saw a girl crying. I thought she maybe hurt so I asked her what was wrong. It turns out she is 16 and came to the gym with her boyfriend to wo. Apparently he began yelling at her telling her you will always be fat if you dont start running faster and stop eating Crap. He got so mad that he left here there embarrassed and no way to get home. She turned to me and said all I want is to be fit and look like you. It broke my heart as she told me how cruel her bf is to her and the kids at school. I remember feeling less than at that age and never feeling good enough. We have all been there kids can be so mean during that age. I tried to help her relating to her and saying one day you will look back on this with a smile on your face because you will realize that this was the motivation you needed. She was maybe 30 pounds overweight with a lot of pain. We need to realize that it is not the opinions of others that matter but how we view ourselves. I took her home and gave her my number and offered to pick her up on Monday to workout. I hope that she got something out of that conversation her pain and sadness has nothing to do with her bf or the kids from school it her perception of herself for if she knew how great she was she wouldnt be bothered by how others saw her. I hope she calls me and more importantly really begins to love herself as she wont change until she does. Wow sorry for the long post but I think we can all relate at one point in our lives instead of bringing someone down we should motivate and inspire others.
