I had to pause for a moment when it dawned on me just how outstanding this moment is. I dont know of any famous Soap Makers. I am sure there are some but outside of the ultimate Soap Queen Anne-Marie of Brambleberry I dont know of any. Donovan is making a name for himself as a soap crafter. Sooo proud my baby is famous for his creativity and heart. For doing the right thang! I always joke with him that he got famous because he worked for it and did not twerk for it. Twerkers of the world please dont get offended :) But this little fella has held his own. He was the youngest vendor at the Rail Yards Market for almost 26 weeks. Thanks to Lysee Mitri, Huffington Post, Black Enterprise, The Read, Clutch Magazine, KASA News, Brambleberry, Black Youth Project, MSNBC, Russell Simmons, Queen Latifah & her show, KRQE, and everyone who has blogged, tweeted, tumblrd, and shared his story he is known nationally and internationally...look at the great friends on this page...so diverse and so supportive. Now he is taking his craft and philanthropy to the next level thanks to the support of the Downtown Action Team. Tomorrow is the Grand Opening of the Toil and Trouble Bath Store. What a phenomenal moment. He continues to give back by still donating a percentage of sales at his store to the Supportive Housing Coalition of New Mexico. He will be crafting a special soap next week with sales from that item going to the local Heading Home Initiative. I cant imagine I could feel any prouder of him than I do now. But knowing this wonderful little fella...he will find a way to even outshine this moment.
