I had to write a paragraph describing how Christianity affects Americans and typically went off, and I decided to drop this on facebook. To anyone who reads it share your opinions. It is a bad thing, when the majority of religious zealots only pick and choose when following the bible suits their ends and needs and feels this overwhelming desire to force the american populace (and the world, whether or not they can admit it) to follow what they believe. Religious followers (Well stick with Christianity for the moment since thats the topic at hand for the most part) feel that they are right, infallibly so, to the point where to go against their beliefs in any way is taken as an attack on humanity and Americans and the American Way. People want to say America is the Land of the Free. Sure, so long as you are a good Christian and pump your chest every time anything that America is doing is for the best. The second, the SECOND, you say anything at all against either of these, you are practically shunned. Like a leper. In the name of Christianity, more wars and crimes against fellow man has been committed than should be acceptable. And yet, here we are. The average to extremist follower of the faith puts down science, shuns furthering humanity and our causes. Save the Earth? Why bother, this is just the rest stop until Heaven. Ive heard that phrase (or similar of) so many times I could vomit. Christians get so up in arms over menial things, like saying God in the Pledge of Allegiance. Or taking his name off the dollar bill, or making a public issue with games and books, like Dungeons & Dragons, Harry Potter, just to name a few examples. If its not the Christian way, its the wrong way. You cant look at humanitys past in a non-subjective way and say that Christianity is wholly innocent. Its hands are stained red with the blood of the nonbelievers. Hell, stained even with those that just didnt believe enough. Or as Ive been told, Those who lack the proper faith. The amount of good Christians that dont even properly follow the basic tenets yet feel superior to their fellow humankind is appalling and disgusting. People dont want to hear the truth, because they dont want their illusions destroyed. - Friedrich Nietzsche
