I hate - when people let you down. I realize that we are all furry little critters trying to get through life. Still, today, although it was for the most part a very good day, it did not end well. At least it did not end well for humanity. I get off work, today was my 17th year at the firm, and we had a little celebration at lunch. Walk across the track and locate a seat on the Blueline heading south. I reach for my cell phone to call home. Thats our protocol, Adeles queue to head foe the H st station to pick me up as I arrive. But, that was not what happened, for my battery was dead... This is usually not a problem. I always keep a backup power source in the form of a Lithium power block. Not today, as upon plugging in, it became apparent this device was also dead! I decided to wait until H st. get some change at Carls Jr. and find a pay phone. Heading east on H in the dark, Pay phones were hard to find. Finally, I saw one at the Jack on Broadway. Not!, it was vandalized. :-( I saw the Verizon store across the street, and decided a phone store would surely be sympathetic. As I walk in, I was greeted by a middle-aged gent who offered me his attention. I told my tale and he said that there was nothing he could do and immediately pointed me to the door suggesting I try a pay phone at the mall. At this point I was to find out, my wife was frantically trying to track me down. Now I am 63 years old, I have COPD its dark and cold and I am fatiguing fast. I am now heading to the mall, I dont remember seeing payphones there but we will see. Nope made it all the way to Shakeys and didnt see one. Alas, I see a AT&T cell phone store, I am an ATT customer, so I had the option of playing that card. I walk in, and am greeted by a young lady, who clearly had sales in mind! I quickly told my story and she didnt even let me finish...oh sure she said, just use any cell phone on display, they are all live! Thank god! Good on you AT&T VERIZON = FAIL! Mature person who was clearly afraid he would lose his job, = FAIL!
