I hate suspense -- so I will now inflict it on all my facebook friends so they can share in the stress. Our wonderful realtor, Sam the Real Estate Maniac, made an offer on a house for us last night. Poor Sam! When I told him about it, he said, This is in FIFE! Well, yes. If I had known you were willing to go as far as Fife and Tacoma, I could have gotten you a house a long time ago! Well, yes. Deep sigh from the exasperated realtor. However, I explained, this house is very close to I-5 and, at the other end, my work is very close to I-5. Thus this is a different deal than the one he found for us that was buried in a development full of curvy, twisty residential streets clear out in Covington. Furthermore, this house is WONDERFUL -- for people like us. Its in an area near the Foss Waterway where we used to shear sheep. (Think about that one for a minute.) It is 1,400 sq. ft., clean and in good repair, situated on ONE HALF ACRE of level ground, and it has the most beautiful 1940s kitchen in the whole world. Oh, and did I mention that its about $20,000 more than we can afford? Its one of those government owned houses where you make a bid online. If they accept it, then you iron out the details. So, Sam made a bid on our behalf. He bid $30,000 less than they are asking. Will they go for it? I cant think why they would. Even the most wrecked out junker house you can find has been selling within a few weeks of being listed. Surely they could get the price they are asking for this wonderful place. However, Sam said, we will bid what we can pay and, if God is willing, they will go for it. (Sams favorite remark is, ALL things are possible with God.) When will we know? Sam thinks perhaps by Monday or Tuesday. I cant stand it.
