I hate the smugness and arrogance that the CNN team including Anderson Cooper has shown. And Im not embarrassed that I support my government 100%. CNN has shown the Filipino people how totally detached they are of what is happening to our people. Fact? Okay, lets state fact. Yolanda is the FIRST storm of this magnitude ever to hit landfall. Even Katrina was a far second to Yolanda in terms of casualties and those affected. In terms of intensity, no living human being has seen the intensity of this storm, except the people of the 5 regions in the Visayas. And as with ANYTHING first, all we can do is prepare to the best of our efforts. Everything else is theory. So what happened to Katrina? The strongest hurricane that hit the US? Go back and read the news and see how the United States of America, the worlds most powerful country, handled the aftermath. Its no different than the criticisms being hurled now at my government. Isnt this saying a lot? The most powerful country being criticized just like a third world country? Im wondering what the other foreign media are saying? Or is it just typical American hubris? Cooper compared the response of Japan to ours, saying that in Japan, in two days the army was present at the site. Mr. Cooper should study the geography of the Philippines and Japan. The disaster that hit Japan was contained in the Miyagi prefecture. One land mass! Even if the tsunami had an extended reach in the coastline, still a land mass is a land mass and it is easier to penetrate by land. Hence the swift presence of relief. BUT, Yolanda struck 5, 5 REGIONS in the Philippines. ALL ISLANDS!! You have a main island and several smaller islands, all screaming for help! And how in the world can you penetrate these areas when power lines are down, communication lines are down and everyone, still stunned and zombie like from the trauma. Even the local officials cant do anything as they themselves have been stripped of every possession they had. The logistics between a land mass and a group of islands scattered in the ocean, Mr. Anderson, is way, way different! I do not apologize for my government. Because I have seen the preparation. They might have their shortcomings but certainly it is not of lack of leadership, not a lack of concern and certainly not a lack of compassion, as you insinuate. The Filipinos will rise up again as they always have. And oh, by the way, CAN YOU PLEASE ASK YOUR FELLOW FIRST WORLD COUNTRIES TO RATIFY AND SINCERELY ABIDE BY AND SUPPORT THE TOKYO PROTOCOL AND NOW, THE ONGOING WARSAW CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE!! I HATE TO SEE OUR BRAVE DELEGATE, SEB YANO, CRY HIS EYES OUT YEAR AFTER YEAR. IT IS YOU, THE DEVELOPED COUNTRIES WHO ARE ACCUMULATING CLIMATE CHANGE DEBTS THAT CREATE STORMS LIKE YOLANDA AND KATRINA. IT IS YOU WHO ARE CAUSING THESE TERRIBLE HOLOCAUSTS. IT IS YOU WHO ARE THE MURDERERS!
