I have a 2014 Ford that I bought in April. I backed the car in my driveway last Sunday. Last Sunday night I was the victim of vandalism/intentions malicious mischief. At 7:00 pm. I was at home watching the Rams game on TV when a man who had done odd jobs for me over the past 5 years knocked on my door and told me he noticed I had a flat tire. I told him I would call AAA but he said he was hungry and had nothing to eat and asked if he could change it for $10 cash so he could buy something to eat. Since I trusted him, I felt sorry for him and I let him do it. He let the jack fall and my car fell. That cost me $26.95 for a new valve stem and caused $880 body damage which i found the next morning. When I gave him the money I asked what he was going to eat, and he acted like I was crazy. Guess he forgot what he had told me! Monday I discovered the body damage and took my car to the dealer to get a new tire and they told me I had been scammed. Apparently this guy used a special mechanics tool to remove the regulator inside the valve stem and that let out the air. My tire was not flat...it was tampered with in my driveway while i was at home! I reported it to the Police but could not really press charges since I cant prove he did it. Sad that you cant trust anyone these days and now I have body damage due to his carelessness in letting the car fall off the jack. I guess he thought I was an easy mark. Now I had to.pay for a new valve stem plus my $250 comprehensive deductible to the body shop! Expensive reminder not to trust anyone! All I know is his first name, cell number, where he used to live and 2 places he hangs out at. BEWARE people! Scammers are among us.
