I have a book suggestion: The Wordy Shipmates by Sarah - TopicsExpress

I have a book suggestion: The Wordy Shipmates by Sarah Vowell. This book is mega-entertaining, as in fun. Sarah is a great writer of entertaining history. And it is also mega-informative, as in the origins of Church-State Separation; proposed by one of those Marxist-pinko, God-hating, gay, thieving, rich-people-jealous, Puritan Ministers just last year, aka the 17th century. A hundred years before the Declaration. Im speaking here of the founder of Rhode Island; the first colony to declare itself independent of British rule. Im speaking, here, of Roger Williams, banned from the Massachusetts Bay Colony because the man was too religiously conservative. The man who wandered for quite a time, living with the natives who he thought of as devil worshippers but still put in the time to create one of the first books translating the language of those natives into English and back again. Yes, that man not only believed in the separation of church and state, he had a deep, personal, vested interest in it. ...after all he had been thrown out of not one, but two, different theocracies. The man had nowhere to go; except a future secular government. Sarah can make all this ridiculousness so, so much fun. Give The Wordy Shipmates a read. Or maybe, Assassination Vacation, a book near and dear to my heart. Stuff it, Glenn Beck, you bad excuse for a person with mental problems! You really dont fake it well.
