I have a few issues to raise about Steven Gerrards impending departure from Liverpool FC. I believe when a football club produces a rare gem like Gerrard has been to Liverpool, they should be less inclined to letting him go. Real Madrid kept Fernando Hierro till forever and despite the trials and tribulations of Iker Casillas, they are still holding on to him. Imagine the sudden exit of Paul Scholes from Manchester United. He was back 6 months later simply because the club was too hasty in letting him call it a day. Arsenal made the mistake of letting Patrick Vieira leave so much younger than when Dennis Bergkamp was. Manchester city then had the benefit of using his experience to build the formations of what is now looking like a dynasty. Steven Gerrard came on against Arsenal while his team was behind and made defence splitting passes for the rest of the game which inspired his team to equalize while a man down. Nobody in the present Liverpool team has half the ability of Gerrard. Hopefully they have also thought about losing another big inspiration while clearly they are still struggling to cope with the departure of Suarez. Hopefully, someone as competitive as Gerrard will suffer the Frank Lampard syndrome and return back to the EPL after 6 months of boredom at MLS. Yet that club might not be Liverpool. Hopefully common sense will still prevail before it is too late.
