I have a really hard time accepting the liberal idea that big government is actually, well, liberal. You see, every big government that I know of historically has crumbled because, well, the government was too big. Why is it that Democrats seem to peddle this notion that more governmental control is actually moving the country forward? In particular, I find it concerning when a nation fraught with the premise that each individual has the value to define their own purpose in life is transformed into a place where the people are incapable of helping each other or themselves, let alone be trusted with supplying and demanding their own goods, services, or ideas. Group organizing by the elite intelligentsia is no way of demonstrating progressivism. To the contrary, it is a perfect way of showing the people ought not to be trusted with their own endeavors. How could anyone subscribe to that notion? I know I cant.
