I have a sincere love and appreciation for old structures, as well as old items. I truly love what I do. I love researching the old structures, yes sometimes it is frustrating but nonetheless, I love it. I have had the pleasure of going inside many of the oldest structures in Middletown. To me, this is the most awesome part of what I do. The craftsmanship is absolutely incredible. I see pride and hard work in these structures. Quality workmanship. Middletown has the oldest structures in Dauphin County and any county north and west of here. Middletown is the oldest town in Dauphin County, established in 1755 by George Fisher and laid out in 1690 by William Penn. I love the old structures here. Middletown is extremely rich in history. I am not from Middletown, I have lived here just under three years. When I first moved here, I took notice of the old structures on Main Street. The first place I stopped at was the Lamp Post. The server told me about the building and some other buildings on Main Street. This got my attention. When I began to look into the structures, I found nothing online. I called the Historical Society and asked about some of the structures, only to be told by the person I spoke with, that she had no idea. So I began to talk with people, I got the answers to my questions. I purchased a copy of every one of the Historical Societies Colonial Craft Books, a copy of the Chronicles of Middletown, Dauphin County History Book, as well as Lancaster and York County History Books. Then I created a Facebook Page and began posting old, Public Domain, Photos and information on them. The Facebook Page began to grow fast, word spread and when the Page hit 500 people, I began the website. I created the website as well as the Facebook Page, to educate everyone on the amazing history of Middletown. I am very thankful for all the interest in the history of Middletown. The website has had over One Million Hits. The Facebook Page has over 2000 Likes. I continue to add to the website and will be adding much more, in the winter months, when I am not so busy going out and researching throughout the Borough. I thank each and every one of you for being here on the Page, for your kind words, the encouragement, support and for sharing your photos and information with me. I sincerely appreciate it, very much. Feel free to contact me if you have any information or old photos on your home that you would like to be posted here and placed on the website. Feel free to share any of the posts here as well as share this page and the website with others.
