I have a story for you, a true story, one that sheds light on the referendum. But before I go on I would appreciate it if people could sign the Yes International declaration here: preview.nouncy/edb334a155c062eebed4a8bb93b2b632c123d1593f02db29ab Anyway! On with the story! I live in a semi-detached house. That means that my neighbours home is physically attached to mine. Both families own their own home which are separate from each other and we go about our daily lives as good neighbors. Often chatting over the garden fence. We leverage our mortgage against our house, he does the same for his. He spends his wages on his house, my family spend theirs on our house. My kitchen is different from his. My livingroom is different than his and recently the needs of my family changed due to my mothers M.S meaning I completely reconfigured the entire bottom floor of our house. Every wall was moved. Why? Because its my house and I can do what I want inline with the needs of my family. My front and back garden are different from his. For all intents and purposes we lead totally different lives. However there are things in which we have a mutual interest in. The exteriors of the buildings are physically interlinked and as good neighbours we would never take an action or make a change that would in any way have a detrimental impact on the house price of the other person. I want to make an addition or change to the property, the first person I goto before I even apply for planning permission is my neighbour. It is what good neighbours do. Afterall if you are doing work that will require weeks and heavy machinery with early starts in the morning. They are going to have to suffer the noise as well. It is just good manners. Of course things like the building facias, guttering and the wooden cladding are both interlinked. So I wouldnt go painting mine bright colours while his is brown - it would look stupid and turn buyers off if he decided to sell. Recently I decided that the guttering is knackered on our side (we have the downpipes on our side and his have had problems as well. So I managed to secure new guttering of a new shape, better flow and white so it would never need to be painted. I approached him and suggested that the two of us just replace the whole thing on both sides, keep it matching. Our interests were mutual so he agreed and we both put money into a pot to buy the guttering. We will both be fitting it together at a time we are both free and our homes will not look out of place because we worked together. Does this remind you of something? Independence of course! Two mutually exclusive countries physically joined together doing what they need to do for their own families and of course when our interests overlap we work together for the good of each other to get the job done. That is what independence brings for Scotland. Looking after our own family while working together with our closest neighbour. Of course what doesnt happen with me and my neighbour like what happens in the United Kingdom is as follows: - He doesnt take all my wages and give me a proportion of them back with a nice big slice for himself. - He doesnt tell me what I have to spend my money on. - He doesnt pay for a dangerous piece of equipment and stick it in my back garden. - He doesnt live it up on my buck and leave my family in abject povery - He doesnt leverage his mortgages and bad debts against my home - He doesnt spend my money and take bad debt on things I will never get the use of and expect me to pay for it. - He doesnt have his electricity connected to my meter, making me pay for it and then tell me that not having him leeching my electric would be bad for me (yes that was an oil analogy). - He doesnt tell me that I have to pay him to get my mother medical help. - He doesnt dictate what I do with my life. Westminster Does! #yesscot #indyref #scotdecides #yeswecan #yesinter
