I have a suggestion, rooted in policy recommendations from 1960s era moderates like the NAACP and even the original Black Panther Party: allow Black communities to be patrolled exclusively by Black cops and thus rip the race card from Black Americas public safety deck! The irony in this proposition is hoods within the Hood will not be overcome by fraternal love toward Black cops, if anything it sets the stage for more confrontations, as White officers can no longer be scapegoated in scenarios where force is used. I came of age during the Rodney King Riots and fast forward from there to Ferguson, MO and wonder why dont we just go back to old school recommendations that we police ourselves, via citizen patrols and Black officers in our neighborhoods.
