I have a very good news these days from Sugukia, Kenya. The project we implemented in the year 2012 to distribute water for both IDP and the host communities is developing by the peoples own effort. The original 2 km pipeline is now extended to reach more neighboring communities who have been suffer from drought seasons. In many communities in sub-Sahara regions are affected by droughts coming every several years. The negative impact of such droughts and food shortage caused by the regular or irregular droughts can be reduced, if communities regularly maintain their access to the clean water within 10 -20 km. The project we have done in the year 2012, found it within 6 -7 km from the communities. It was the first time that they got the clean wanter even without using their feet for donkeys. Hope the water pipe line will keep sustaining not only the clean water but also their extra times and labors, which are set free from carrying wanter. In fact, their hands and knowledge empower their own sustainability and resilience. I would like to come back to see, and talk to you people in Subukia, District, Kenya.
