I have all the Anne Perry (Pitt Victorian novels) and I have read them twice. Now I am going to start again. I could read things much more elevating, informative and worthwhile, but, like exercising and eating right, I resist doing what is good for me. I love Victoriana, I dont have to think much, and I can pretend life and all of its sorrows are in the capable hands of Thomas Pitt and wife Charlotte and not my problems. Besides, when you know the outcome it is a much more comfortable read. I tried to get into A Song of Ice and Fire Game of Thrones but good lord. So many names of people to track and so much intertwining of feet and fate and so much confusion when each chapter jumps you back into another characters time line just when you think you have a handle on it.... finally, I gave up and went to Wikipedia to get a coherent sense of it, learned that people I invest in heavily die, and so.... yah - typical male scyfy writer. I like female authors generally; I just cant love that testosterone factor, I guess. Besides he kills a Direwolf or two and that is just not acceptable. So Im off to cozier climes. TaTa
