I have always been an advocate for saying that computer games dont effect ordinary people and as such shouldnt be used as an excuse for certain crimes, but admittedly this new game that is being developed is pretty messed up even by my standards. Surprisingly I was quite taken aback by the nature of it but I couldnt understand why. There are numerous other games where you kill countless people, innocent or otherwise, and they dont really bother me. I think its because on other games you have a primary objective, either you are killing bad guys or just have to accept some collateral for the greater mission, but in Hatred the mission, the primary objective, is to kill as many innocent people as you can before you get caught or killed. This is what makes it quite shocking, the fact that it is basically a serial killer simulator. But I guess thats what also makes it fun. It is very dark but very unique, truly a game that looks to release your true dark side for no other reason than killing can be fun and to be honest, having grown up conducting pointless massacres in GTA, I do honestly believe I could enjoy this game. Despite its extreme nature I still maintain that a game is just game even in this case. I could happily play this and not want to go out and do it in real life. The people that think like that have something wrong with them anyway and would most likely end up carrying out some sort of murder spree regardless of a computer game. What do you guys think? - Malum
