I have an interesting hypothetical (but based in reality) question - TopicsExpress

I have an interesting hypothetical (but based in reality) question to posit. A person who shall not be named recently told me that a TV series in town (which shall also not be named, and on which I am not currently employed) is having everyone (presumably from directors on down to day player actors and background performers) sign a document agreeing that they will not say good things on social media about other TV series that could be considered in competition with that show. Could this possibly be legally binding? Confidentiality agreements are absolutely standard, and I could almost see it being enforceable to keep a person from speaking ill about a particular production, but to muzzle everyone who has worked on a show, even for a day, from SPEAKING WELL about other productions... isnt that a fundamental violation of a persons Canadian charter right to freedom of thought and expression? Its especially impractical given the freelance nature of work in this industry. If any of you know which show I am speaking of, I would ask you not to mention it by name as this question functions well enough as a hypothetical and there is no need to point fingers, but Im curious about your thoughts. Im fairly certain that I would personally refuse work on a production if I was forced to sign such an agreement.
