I have been a server for many many years. In a small community, Ive developed many friendships with my customers. Theyve seen me go through marriage, divorce, pregnancies, college, joys, heartache, graduation, confirmations, & sporting events of my children. Many of these people have even attended some of these things. I take care of them, provide them with excellent service, and take pride in that. Well last night, a couple that Ive known for almost a dozen years, had supper at my current place of employment. Its been a couple of months since I had run into them , so we spent some time catching up. Talking about my new job and how Im putting in lots of hours, to save up money for my trip to see my son Trevor Morris. Graduate from basic training in Georgia at the end of the month. I told them that I didnt care how many hours I had to work, that I was not going to miss that. On their way out the door I got a hug and as hes saying goodbye he started getting choked up and put something in my hand and said this is to help you go see your son. I thanked him, and gave them another hug, and looked in my hand after they walked out the door. There was a hundred dollar bill ! I was instantly in tears and had to go to the kitchen and have my tears of joy. Shortly after that the table that had overheard my conversation with them, also left me a 60 dollar tip. I was too emotional for words , I could not write this last night. I am getting teard up just thinking about it today, as Im typing this out. These random acts of kindness have got to be one of the nicest gestures you can do for another person. It makes you realize all the bad things reported on the news , the evil , war, suicide& death etc... What life is really all about. Its a win-win situation because you can totally change somebodys perspective on life, or even their day . As also does the person who is being the giver. So make somebodys day and give a random act of kindness. Laura Salemme
