I have been asked a lot lately about why I adopt dogs from Romania when there are thousands needing help in this country . .well Ill tell you . Many of my friends know that for years my passion was german shepherds ...still is if Im honest ...when my last one went to rainbow bridge i decided to become dogless for the first time in 35yrs .The reason for this is because I am getting older and have rheumatoid arthritis and though it has little affect so far I decided it wouldnt be fair to a dog which needed much more than I could physically give . So I joined Facebook and there my education began on the plight of dogs in Romania Cyprus and Greece mainly . In this country our laws on animal welfare are vastly different than these countries...here there is cruelty but people are accountable and where animals become surplus to requirements they are pts humanely. Not ideal however not as bad as in some countries. Meet Andy picked up from the streets before the dog catchers got hold of him to transport to a death shelter where he wasnt fed ,given water and probably in with many large dogs where . .If he survived . .he would be disposed of by bludgeoning stabbing or antifreeze injection . Saved by a dear Romanian friend from whom I adopted . Then we have Teddy who was saved by another friend . ..he was a street dog captured by the dog catchers but retrieved from the killing station and prepared for adoption before the inevitable happened . Last we have sara who is an old lady of 10 yrs whose throat was damaged permanently . .rescued from the killing station by the same friend who rescued Andy she needs very careful feeding for the rest of her life . All 3 of these precious lives saved by angels in Romania .All 3 came vaccinated from Rabies . . flea and worm free complete with all health checks required by the UK . Because of people like me..Romanian rescues..British rescues and others worldwide a few lives are saved . I am proud to have saved these dogs from a life of hell and even more proud to be a part of a system of thousands who work tirelessly to save as many as possible .
