I have been asked by a kayaker who wants to take some wooden boats up to Greenland what designs might be suitable. They will be unsupported for two or three week stretches at times. Either S&G or hybrid, as there would probably be a time constraint on building them. These are his criteria... Performance is useful but more so, in this instance: load carrier and space for self support - reasonably stable - beach landings mainly, some rock. - light enough to be lifted on boat by hand easily and carried ashore. - robust - as pleasing to the eye as possible! I realise that some of those criteria are oxymorons, but I was hoping to generate some discussion on this: opinion and experience welcome.
