I have been complaining about the paper mill since 1985. The response back then was be patient, it is not built to last - there are maybe a few good years left and they will have to relocate with better technology. Unfortunately some very powerful people, with access to government money have made a good profit off this mill and managed to keep it going to the detriment of the taxpayers, the people surrounding Boat Harbour, and the environment. We continue to feed the monster in order to support the wealthy land owners who profit off of deals and many of these people are high ranking in the government which means our only recourse is to protest. For the first time in almost 30 years I feel like something can be done. Thank god for this group, thank god for the attention and I hope for a better future for all those concerned about the health and welfare of Pictou County!!
