I have been sidelined by the flu. Diagnosed Sunday morning so I have been home. Very mild case, caught early and administered Tamiflu to shorten the duration. I never had a fever. So I began playing with my Halloween prints for an upcoming retreat. This will be a mat for underneath my featherweight probably my black 1936 named Lucy Beth. The mat in detachable pockets is not quite complete. I have to so the pockets it down I wanted it detachable so that I could use the mat as a table runner or decoration with some of my primitive Halloween things. The pocket looks crooked because it hasnt been some down yet. It will attach with colorful buttons. I quilted the entire thing last night and then did something Ive never done before, I picked out the quilting in the middle of the mat. Arhhhh! When I made this I thought oh dont quilt it & bind it like all the others; just do the turn it inside out thing and birth the quilt as Eleanor Burns would say. Well I havent done that in probably 22 years and dont think Ill do it again. The quilt would lay so much flatter if I had not attempted what I thought would be easier. Live and learn I also made a handmade felted owl it is not quite done either. Many of the fabrics in this little mat were used to make pillow cases & pillowcase dresses. Sew this is a mini memory quilt!
