I have been thinking about the Bachman thing. It is probably correct that there are many misogynists in the world. It is probably also true that many men carry emotional scars from formative experiences at the hands of mothers, lovers, female others , and therefore could, under duress , react as if unreconstructed misogynists . What is more interesting to me is why we are shocked when a Jewish state behaves like Nazi Germany, when Black politicians champion New World imperialism, when third world leaders steal from their own poor, when socialists adorn their lives with the trappings of luxury. Of course Barack Obama is the most prominent example, drone-bombing for peace. Thinks: One more surge of bombing then Im done. I recognize that individuals need not allow gender, or historys mistreatment of their culture, their land, their people, to determine the choices that they make, but at some perhaps childish level of understanding or expectation, I am more annoyed by the statements and actions of a Condaleeza Rice or a Hilary Clinton, than I would be if they were men. Because at a childish level of symbolic thought, I foolishly associate women with nurturing and some kind of humanism. Its the last trace in me of my dead mothers love. A delusion. Sorry.
