I have been trying out the latest Fedora flavor after trying out - TopicsExpress

I have been trying out the latest Fedora flavor after trying out pc-bsd (the wireless cards are a pain) and linux mint (which I screwed up royally messing with updating the kernel and then not wanting to put the effort into fixing the nvidia module.) Fedora turned out to install mostly okay, post mint. It found my windows 8.1 partition and that boots fine as a secondary OS. I had to fix a problem with the GPG keys which didnt automatically download on the initial hook up to my repos. Im honestly not even sure which step I did was the one that fixed the problem, but it wasnt too big a pain. It took me about an hour to fix. openSUSE comes out with its latest distro in 2 days, and I will probably immediately switch over to that and am interested in the Raspberry Pi spin. I have all the security/hacking packages installed on Fedora and it was an easy grouppackage install to get them. Gnome still sucks and the poor choices for gnome to make it more a tablet OS predated Windows 8. I find this kind of humorous as Linux often comes out with bright ideas it takes a decade or so for Windows to adapt, but then they do something stupid with Gnome and Windows jumped on it almost immediately. I have the open source start button in windows 8.1 and it runs like Windows 7 only more securely and a little speedier. In fedora, I downloaded KDE, cinnamon and sugar, and have been messing with all three. Im not sure I see much of a difference between the three and only gnome really stands out as a bad idea for a default desktop, at the very least. I met a woman online who is into linux and computers in general. She answered to my craigslist ad looking for a geek chick and totally meets the qualifiers as a complete techy and brainiac. I doubt it will go anywhere for a few reasons, but it is always nice to meet a woman who is beyond a gamer into straight up technical research and exploration. Female geeks are rare and practically hunted and married to extinction.
