I have collected a few thousand visiting cards over the last few years. I have dumped them somewhere. I should have actually disposed them off, but didnt. There is no way I can pull out a card that I want from the pile that I have. I have, in the past, tried organizing them in card folders, but have given up fairly quickly. Today tried an iPhone app CamCard on the last 20 cards lying on my table. It works quite well. It scans and OCRs the content, recognizes most fields correctly and slots them in various fields appropriately. You have to edit badly formatted text caused by overenthusiastic designers, using unintelligible fonts, or in case of many Indian folks, sheer bad self design where the card is filled with too much of junk. I tried it on my own visiting card and found two places where error creeps in. (Lloyds Road comes out as Lioyds Road, whereas the fax number that starts with +91 comes out as +191. I can understand the former but cannot understand the latter, but can fix the design in both the cases.) Need to add QR code to the cards to make them easily recognizable. Actually I should print my QR code on my T Shirt and do away with visiting cards once and for all! I strongly recommend CamCard for iOS and it is free. I am happy withthe product.
