I have debated informing everyone of my choice lately to attempt reaching a new level of community out reach until now. Two months ago I applied for the Chamber of Commerce President position here in Lockhart. Today I have an interview with its board of Directors, many of whom I have known and or worked with independently over the past 9 years as of this October here in Lockhart. When my family and I first moved here I knew I had found my home. Ive spent these past 9 years growing and changing with my family and building new lasting friendships with may people throughout town, meeting several folks local businesses owners not much different from my own families business, hard working families driven for success not only for themselves but determine individuals who have sought out making each tomorrow better than the day before them, and constantly creating the visions they have for their community. When I first moved here, we could only focus on ourselves as business owners new to Lockhart. Over time I noticed several others much like ourselves wanting community and finding there wasnt enough time for enjoying our surrounding community. Constantly working day to day. Work we felt it just like so many others. Thats what encouraged me as a younger man to find and bring entertainment first just to my families business to help attract new business a slow start 9 years ago. Just to make my family and I slow down just for a day once a month to enjoy and be among friends over the years I realized we werent the only ones needing to feel that sense of joy in a day that come from the kind of event that brings community together. So I began working with other businesses and new friends from around Lockhart and friends I had made from all over to find time collectively to create our visions of family, friendship and new opportunities. Over that time I have helped and witnessed changes most would only talk about, the establishing of our Farmers Market by Imagine Lockhart, I myself became a part of which was the First Day 4 years ago I met my now wife Catrin Bennett Gammage. It is important for us all to find and establish that sense of community wherever we might be. Which was something I understand now that was little known for me until I came to Lockhart. I have made it my lifes choice to help others whether or not it be continuing as just myself through friends and family or also as appointed to a position of a prior established branch of community service. Thank you for years of support for all of my friends and family for helping me grow in an environment that allowed me the opportunity to build not only for my future but to take strides in making life a little more enjoyable through events that have brought us all a little closer.
