I have discovered that the First Nation communities here have many - TopicsExpress

I have discovered that the First Nation communities here have many similarities as our own communities in Canada, the Wichi Laka of Salta elect their "President" by an election process similar to that of the election process under the Indian Act, the president holds a 2 year term. It also appears that the community has an process similar to our Band Council Resolution document to support projects such as improvements to the school in the community. I have also learned that the community members are often divided on issues in their home communities and that often divisions occur about many things including the election of the "President", and that many members choose not to support many new initiatives due to not wanting change. A "President" can be a visionary and want the most for his people, however he needs his people to stand behind him for positive change to happen, if he does not have the support then nothing will change and they continue to exist in a cycle of dependency on the government and not have opportunity to be part of the economy to better their lives and the lives of their future children.
