I have fought many fires during my 22 years in the FDNY but this is the first time that I can recall loosing family members to a fire. To my Philadelphia family I feel deep sorry because I know all of you are very close. I have used your caring for each other on many occasions when I was trying to make a point about how family should treat each other. As a professional firefighter I urge everyone to get and have a Plan in the event of a fire. When staying in hotels count the number of doors from your room to the exit. If the halls become filled with smoke you can feel the doors counting them until you reach the exit door. If anyone in the entire family would like me to come to wherever you are to have a fire safety class I will come. I have given many lectures on fire safety. There is a lot of tactics that we can use to get out of burning buildings. I love all of you probably more than anyone realizes. To my FB friends please pray for our family. Thank you.
