I have had a WONDERFUL WEEK, and I am so thankful for all of my blessings. First, I am thankful for the resilience of teenagers. It (literally) rained on the seniors parade Monday morning. As their cute pictures, words, and window art washed off of their cars and down the gutters on the side of 2-A and their first day of school hair got soaking wet, did they whine and cry like I would have? No. They made the best of it and had a great morning. They looked adorable in their superhero outfits and smiled for pictures and compared schedules...they talked about senior year and their plans to make it great. I am also thankful for my new students. They have been fantastic, coming into class each day with smiles on their faces...ready to learn, and even if they are frustrated with schedule changes, late lunches, and crowded hallways, they havent let it get to them; they just keep on going. It is also great that I get to end my day with my sweet neighbor Sandys son, Aaron. :) I cant begin to express how thankful I am to work with such fantastic teachers and staff; everyone is working so hard to get schedules balanced, help freshmen and new students find their way around, and keep everything running as smoothly as possible until everyone gets settled. Lastly, and most importantly, I am thankful for my daughter. She makes me smile every day. I am so proud of how hard she works and the huge heart she has for others, and I love how loyal she is to her friends. She is truly an original. :) Since she is a senior, I am going to make an effort to soak in every moment of her last year in high school.
