I have had some time to think deeply about Obama’s State of the Union Address last Tuesday. Obama claimed America is divided and “some people have more and some people have less.” This statement indisputable. But Obama then went on to justify larceny when he stated: “This difference in inequality of income is “not fair.” This is the same wrong sided rhetoric he mumbled a few years back when he said if you have a business, “You didn’t build that, someone else did.” Really? If Obama’s “rational (the noun)” is to be “rational (the verb)” he would have us believe Effort should not be justly rewarded, and that what my father said about working hard and saving my money is wrong. America does not have a problem with differences of outcome. Just ask any entrepreneur who worked 60 or 70 or even 80 hour weeks his entire working life. Or ask any university student who ever pulled an all-nighter studying for a chemistry exam, while his compatriots went out to the bars. America has a difference in effort. Effort manifests itself in outcome quite naturally and expectedly every time and usually even in the short one year term. I have noticed people make huge difference in their lives every time they absolutely committed themselves to something for a complete year. I have noticed this without fail, 100% of the time. Like it or not, those that put forward the effort not only deserve to be “better” compensated but usually are. Effort you see is a very simple concept to understand but not nearly so easy to implement. “Kudos” to those who do Mr. President. TLRRRC… Lee
